    Good to see so many are having this fault attended to.

    I called VW CS this week, spoke to two very helpful people, and they assured me that it would be attended to , and a case number for reimbursing the dealer given to me.

    On calling the dealer, (where I bought it from and has been serviced at since), the reply was not so friendly stating that 'Out technical manager says, Unless your engine does not work properly, VW will not be replacing the injectors). All I needed to hear.
    I gave them alot of background info (Thanks to you guys on here), re multiple failures, VOSA, VW CS, and the real danger of being on a motorway and losing power, brakes, steering etc and it then seemed to sink in a bit.
    I also explained that VW were paying them and not the other way around...

    I'll keep you posted on this one, as the car does not go in for a while yet and I am not prepared to be treated in a discriminatory way over such a dangerous issue.
    Perhaps they ought to be put in a Passat on a dark rainy night at 75mph and then have the engine switched off and see how they feel about it then ?

    @ String, this is what I got from VOSA

    Your second question reference the Oil pump failures. This defect is out
    side of VOSA safety branch as the fault does not cause a safety issue as
    you would normally get a warning light that the you have lost oil pressure
    and that the engine would not fail without any warnings. If you think that
    this item is not fit for purpose then you should contact your local Trading
    Standards office. I have attached a copy of our Consumer guide to safety
    defects, to provide you with a better understanding of our work.

    This was me informing of the other mass faults with this shoddy piece of engineering by a company that should know better, I think the TSO is the one to contact myself and see what they say, you've been done up one way or another, the 1.9 PD requires the belt off, the 2.0 doesn't, I think someone got the engine capacity wrong and slackened that bolt myself.


    And for others info car manufacturers have been buying scrap vehicles to see what parts were over engineered at the time, this will account for the numerous suspension failures and things like brakes,clutches etc, they've nipped the quality back to the bone and it's us who are picking the tab up for it.

    I had a similar experience. Phoned VW CS, they said yes, replace everything FOC. Local dealer booked in for service and MOT and injectors. They had a week to order the parts but they didn't. Said they had to get the warranty manager to agree to the work, i said that it's nothing to do with a warranty, blah, blah blah. To cut a long story short, I got VW CS to get them sorted and lean on them a bit. It's now booked in for 26th September.

    VOSA have now received enough information on the injector defects and do not require any more reports to be sent in us.
    If you have suffered or think that you may experiance this fault in the future, you should contact the relevant customer support group for your vehicle type.

    I've collected my car this afternoon. All 4 injectors and wiring loom have been replaced, they've also washed the car. Thanks to VOSA and VW for getting it sorted.

    Service from Twickenham VW was excellent throughout, as was the service from VW themselves (and I will email the CS Manager back tommorrow to say so too) - all in all, I'm a happy man

    Having driven the car for 2 weeks, I would agree. Got a long run south this weekend MPG will be interesting.

    Update to Tags 211/248.

    My car went in yesterday morning for new injectors/loom, picked the car up 2.00pm all done!

    My thanks to Lookers Teesside for excelent service (Neil) SM, (Amy) CR. All I had was a Case number + print outs of VOSA comments from this site and Neil sorted the rest with VW.

    My confidence in my Passat has returned and after owning the car since new I can now look forward to many more miles of worry free motoring.
    (Without the beer).
