Hi all, just something to make you think, on my 110bhp gt tdi, as your coasting to a junction if you knock it out of gear the engine is misfiring, it'll keep doing it until you come to a stop then run fine, it doesn't misfire at all when your driving or if the car is just stanading there ticking over.

I noticed this with my old gt tdi, year older (S) but same mileage spec etc etc.

Ive also had a problem with it for ages with it not starting well, becoming chocked up from cold and spinning over for say 10 secs then firing from warm, it starts better from cold now, not perfect though, but so far ive changed the

    glow plugs
    cold temp sensor
    batt
had the fuel pump timing adjusted yest at VW

any ideas with all my problems??

    Hi,
Could be yur Diesel filter needs changing or if you've run it low on fuel and it may have dragged up some dirt from the tank. so may cause mis firing?
Have you had a cambelt changed recently and the timing changed?

My GT 110 has a cold start problem too,it turn real slow when starting first thing in the morning when cold but when warm is fine?!Hav had battery tested that's fine so the next thing is the starter motor replacement or clean it up.Does yours turn over slow 1st thing??

Hi mate, it was only done about 13k ago, fuel filter that is, im guna give it a good service when i get paid, so going to change it all then. I just thought it was strange that my old one did the same thing, yeah cambelt was done by a local garage who didn't set the fuel pump again, so this has been done last week at VW, it now starts better from cold but not brilliant, still has a little lumpyness first thing. Odd times when it's fully warm it has trouble starting aswell, spins over fine but won't fire

Doesn't turn over slow or anything as i have but a new batt on it, the misfire did get better but not cured it when i replaced the crank sensor.

TDI CLUB is a good place to go have checked it myself.I have a bit of trouble to sometimes when starting hot it spins but won't fire, then i try again and away we go.Cleaned my battery terminals and sprayed all the starter motor wires with WD 40 and it started a bit better this morning, but the stater is coming out tomorrow to have a look as i have a feeling my dual mass flywheel is mullered and my starter is full of debris.
Do you use the same place to fill with diesel??Try the expensive Shell diesel with a good quality additive like Millers or Redex and give it a good clear out.Have the glow plugs and injectors been changed??

Yeah i always use shell diesel, never super markets and that, think when i give it a service im guna prime the fuel filter with some fuel system conditioner and stick another bottle in the tank, i have replaced the glow plugs but not the injectors yet.

think i may take my starter off when im under it next and have a look.

Yeah, think if the Flywheel is breaking up it deposits like a powdery debris in the starter and would probably explain the juddering which my car also has!
How many miles has your's done and how old is it?
    Mine's a 'V' 2000,with 130k on the clock.
Keep in touch and let me know how you get on and i'll do like wise.

Mines done similar, 125k and is on a T plate, do you just simply take the starter out and give it a good wash with some engine degeaser?
