A fault code report should show a boost pressure error which is usually down to the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor sticking at around 2880 mBar, So a fault code scan first.

Mine is doing the same, power is great under 3k and beats most things off the lights but stuggles to do over 95ish (not that I do those kind of speeds!!)
Is this a cheap fix, mine has been on the computer, it didn't come up with any errors.

Any help would be much appreciated.

mine was doing the same, until i replace the MAF (mass air flow meter) and it felt like a new car, apparently they are a common fault and need replacing every 2-3 years, try it mate you'll probably be very surprised.

Mine is a GT TDI 110, year 2000, its not been modified, last owner was a middles aged women, its really weird, under 3k it feels great, the MAF was checked and came out as working fine, the only fault that came up was boost pressure valve but that was done under warranty, a couple of months on the problem is back, and now the car is out of warranty. Do you think the garage could have bodged it until the warranty ran out?

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated, sticking it on the machine at a garage I know will cost me £50, don't want to shell out that if it comes up with nothing.

It is nearly impossible to accurately check the MAF but those symptoms don't match a typical failed MAF. However, with almost all TDI running problems that show no codes, I usually replace the MAF with a genuine dealer supplied unit first-DO NOT BUY A MAF FROM ANYWHERE EXCEPT A VW DEALER. I know a scan is going to cost (a typical independent would charge around £25) but it must be done first or you will just end up chasing your tail around in circles until you give in and get it done at which point you my get a relevant fault code.

Thanks, I'll get it scanned, as soon as I do I'll post the results.

It is very rare to get a MAF come up as a fault so we usually use the "no codes, no power, new MAF" method.
