After egr delete my running temps r not going over or barley 70. Thrash it up a hill in gets to 90 but cruising brings it below 70.
on filling tank mileage b4 always crept up. Yesterday was 1st fill up,£60 showed 460,after driving 20 miles usually the gauge creeps up,so from 460 and 20 miles later its down to 380!

heater seems ok. 25deg seems warm and hi seems hotish.
fuel gauge seems on par with display, running to quick?

any ideas, someone suggested small hole in blank, at this rate think il convert back to normal.
does seen more responsive and smoother though since blank.
    ???????????????

Ok,this is an easy cheap fix I believe?
thought the egr helped warm up the engine, takes forever to get to 70,like 15-20 mins at cruising.

so a new thermo will sort out all the above? Rough price n time please gents?

If it's anything like the 1.8T It is £80 for the stat and housing, and is quite involved to fix, not something recommended to a novice mechanic. (not saying you're a novice )

What engine do you have ? If it's a 1.9 Tdi then it's easy, if a v6 then it's behind the cambelt- sadly not a easy job to do !

Actually the action of EGR is to lower combustion chamber temperatures to reduce the levels of NOX emissions.

even if I go back to normal, do I still need fault cleared?
