    Hey all!

Has anyone tried an EGR Delete kit? http://www.egrvalve.co.uk/ sells them, for example.

They only list it for the Golf PD engines, but I asked and they say their kit will also fit my B6 with the AWX engine.

    Any experiences?

I've been thinking about fitting one of these aswell, I've read comflickting stories on wheather you have to update the ECU software when this is done otherwise you may get a warning light on the dash.

I've disconnected the vacuum pipe to the valve and it seems to have improved the bottom end a little (although that could be my mind playing tricks wanting it to be better)

All seems well and good but think why they are there? They do prevent alot on Nitrous oxide gases polluting the atmostphere. I have tried a few things, I even had the pipe off. It reduced the smoke but performance gains were in my head... I tested it with VCDS logs.

When under acceleration the EGR as good as shuts and only uses EGR when idle or very little power required. I'd go for a remap which does use less EGR than normal or use VCDS to minimise EGR usage but not completely stopping it functionality.

I've adjusted it to minimum using VCDS.

    I think you're thinking about MkIV's - pre-2003 don't have a problem. Some 2003 on do. All the B6's throw a CEL light I think.

    benjie,
How did you adjust the EGR? I didn't think it was possible on a B6 like it is on the older distributor pump equipped tdis.

As for the EGR and the atmosphere, I know it's there to cut down NOX emissions, but I think the gain is not worth the trouble these things can cause and the cost that can be involved in changing them.

It is possible and works well. If you look at www.ross-tech.com there is information about the adjustment. I have a word document at home that I can send if you like? It contains what to do. If you have a registered version of VCDS then you can monitor EGR usage whilst the engine is running. I think this is a more sensible option to deleting the EGR completely.

You do it in the same way that they say on the ross-tech site, http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/tdi.html - towards the bottom. Even though it says it doesn't work for PD engines, someone else on this forum pointed me in the direction of an article which says that since vag-com has been updated, it is possible now- using the same procedure. Though I can't for the life of me remember where it is!

Marco, can you send me the document please? I want to be 100% sure I'm correct.

I've got 2003 A6 1.9TDI 130 (AWX), a while ago mine developed hesitation around 1600 to 1800 rpm at light throttle, so I disconnected and plugged the vacuum line to the EGR and it cured the fault. It does not throw up any warning lights or fault codes.
