Has any one got any information on how to replace the forward clutches on an A4 cvt transmission . My car is slipping under gentle acceteration .
The car should be covered by a dealer warrenty but long story now Im having to fix it .
Ive been given qoutes of 1500 euro to have it done , but I can buy the parts for around 600 euro so i reckon I could save myself few bucks .

    Hello!
Done it on a a4 2002 six plate clutch, run this test to be shure it's the clutch that have to be replaced you also have most of the partsnumber in there : http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...UHC0-eubIwEKTA
You need to have vag-com, vcds or vas to run the test, you also need it when you do the oil change and the adaption on the gearbox. If you are a god mecanic this should not be any problem for you, but if you are not i should recomend you to let someone else do the job. It took me around 30 hour to do the job and i had no carlift just a jackpad.

In sweden i payed around 200 euro for the parts that i hade to change + 10 litre of oil around 200 euro. You can also buy a complete new forward clutch, but it's expensive. You have to do an oil flush after changed the clutch parts, thats why you need so much oil. You also need 2 chims tool to chims in the clutch plate it have to be 1.5mm thick (that mesuring is very important) I made the tools myself. it's easy so you dont have to buy them. If you have a six clutch don't upgrade to seven clutch becurse then you have to reflash the ecu and it's not sheep. If you dont reflash after upgrade you break the gearbox. The worst part is to take down the gearbox, try to get someone to print out repair manual from elsawin, or by the prog from ebay. There you have all info about the repair. Good luck!

Have you got a number for Michael ? I spoke with a mechanic from Blaney yesterday , he mentioned that he knew a good gearbox guy , I wonder if this is the same guy .
