Its a shame VW didn't get off their *** and sort this out earlier. I got rid of my passat due to problems with the DSG (which they did fix after 4 weeks of waiting for a decision) and then the intermittent misfire which 3 VW dealers insisted they would charge me even to look at, despite being a known issue. I got sick of driving a potential accident.

Overall I've found the VW experience the worst of any dealers I've used in the last 10 years. And that includes Renault which is saying something. Shame, as I still like the cars a lot!

It was the usual 'warm weather' misfire that seems common on here. Cold engine and warm weather meant you kangaroo'd down the road like an idiot!

Someone on here even posted the service reference which I quoted to 3 VW dealers who refused to even entertain the idea unless I paid them £100 or so for a diagnostic!

It was the last straw for me anyway.

Yeah me too, I've now got turbo siren and park and neutral bearing noise in the DSG, not sure if it was there before the service or not but I'm noticing it now, not loud but it shuts up as soon as 1st is engaged.

Hopefully neither will fail before I've worked the money out of the car and into my replacement fund for the next one, but one thing I do know is it's not going to be a VW or a Skoda next, after a magnificent Superb this is one fragile car imo.

It's the same thing, a VW with another badge, I've seen a few of the newer Octavia's at work and they component wise aren't any better than the VW's they are based on, I still think the Skoda guy screws the cars together better though, it's not I don't want another, it's I don't think I can afford another both on price and worry levels.

This DSG thing, I suspect my DMF is starting to depart? so that will mean a new clutch pack as well should it pack up, any idea how much that lot is likely to be? I suspect £1.5k myself by the time it's fitted, and then add another £1k for the turbo and it makes me feel short changed, I could accept it if the car was on 150k and driven like a Red Bull, but 50k and respected says the parts are not strong enough.

Any chance that the noise on the DSG box could be as a result of your recent DSG service? new oil etc?

Na, I don't think so, I've seen one with what is known as pebbles in the tumbler before, I suspect this is part one of the fail process and it will go from a slightly dry bearing sound to a rattle in the near future, I can't wait to get rid off tbh.

Called VW in Miton Keynes. Seemed very vague and lots of 'IF it's a recognised fault'.
Given a ref and told to phone local dealer who booked it in for next week and said They'll charge £90 to inspect and only refund once again 'IF it's a recognised fault'.

Not quite as easy as some peoples experience.
