Rotating the cams will also rotate the crank, if the belt hasn't been removed, so no timing issues.

Cheers, I wasn't sure with the rockers that the inj's are underneath out if they had to go back in exact position or not.

VW technician has stripped engine down with my mechanic observing and it appears the roller bolt has quite suddenly and unexplainedly 'slackened off' within a day of VW fitting a brand new set of 'goodwill' injectors.unfortunately it was 80,040 miles since they fitted my last cambelt kit so its my word against theirs and so frankly im F#*~?D. Thankyou VW you all have a nice day.

    Jesus, that's bad news

I got my cambelt replaced when they fitted the new injectors.

Got a feeling I was wise to do so

I'm getting really p*ssed off with Leicester VW!

Last week I spoke to Lorraine at VW UK and she said to book the car in at Leic VW so they can check to see what injectors where fitted etc.

Arranged to drop the car off this morning at 8 o'clock and requested a courtesy car as I use mine for work - no probs.

Dropped it off this morning to be greeted by a lad just out of nappies telling me that if there's not a problem we cant fix it. I quoted my case ref number and told him what Lorraine had said to me and said if there is a problem he should speak with her. Unfortunately Lorraine didnt start till 9 so some poor chap called Abdul was practically being shouted at by the guy at Leic VW, who was arguing who was going to pay for what.

Not only did I find this unprofessional but he came off the phone and said 'They weren't going to pay for it but I had a word and its now sorted' he must have thought I'd vanished for 5 minutes as I heard every word of his conversation and at no point did he 'sort it'.

He then went on to tell me that no courtesy car had been booked and they were all being used. I quoted the chaps name 'Rob' who i spoke to when i booked the car in and he went to check his records - low and behold he had arrange a car for me. one problem down.

I'd not heard anything by 1pm so decided to call to see what the crack was, he was out to lunch and I was promised a call back as soon as he's back in the office. No call back so I rang at 3.20pm again, he came on the phone and said 'i suppose you are ringing for an update?' - no sh*t sherlock! I asked if he had been in contact with Lorraine and are the injectors being replaced. He told me the car hasn't gone in yet and will know more by 5 o'clock.

I told him that I need to know if i'm to use the courtesy fox all weekend as I'm supposed to be going to London tomorrow and didnt really fancy the 200 mile round trip in the fox. He raised his voice and said 'as i said I'll know more about it at 5 o'clock'.

I'm now waiting for a call to see whats what - fingers crossed!

I'm sorry for writing this post as its not any help to anyone one but needed to get it off my chest. It amazes me how some people get jobs in customer service when they clearly have no cust services skills, I will be bringing this to the attention of the service manager and Lorraine at hq when i get a chance.

    REf tag 211---update:-

Car went into local VW dealer today, explained all to the service manager about my safety fears, he was very very helpful and he also called in the workshop manager who to I also explained my concerns.

So after an hour and a bit wait, all confirmed that the injectors are the faulty type, Dealer is contacting VW customer sevice with my Case Number and 4 x new injectors and wiring ordered for next Tuesday, car goes in Wednesday.

So now a happy bunny! my thanks to the dealer and also my confidence in VW has been restored.....

Just got back with car from my local VW garage Drift Bridge.

All injectors and loom replaced at a cost of £2121! all detailed on the receipt I received.

All paid for by VW UK. I cannot argue with the excellent service I have received from VW UK, especially Lorraine and Jenny and Drift Bridge.

Car feels much more responsive also, and I wait to see what the economy is like.

Also a big thank you to this forum and the people who have posted on this subject

    Cheers Leggy
