so am going to contact dealers and see what they say..

anyone knows if the 2008 model has the uprated injectors fitted?
Please read my posts!!! joking aside yours will be the old.

VW customer service told me that the new type injectors and loom came out last year.

56 plate manual estate just coming up to 80k miles.

Haven't had a total failure but did have faults that came up with VCDS relating to injectors 1 and 3 shorting to ground. I never realized anything was up while driving though. Rang VW CS today, they admited a problem but insisted I go to my dealer first. Rang dealer (Slough) - they insisted that if they found a defect with one of the injectors they would replace all 4 and loom for free, but if no fault is found they won't.

My car doesn't have any faults at the moment (I cleared them a few months back and they haven't returned) so I'm thinking taking the car in may be fruitless at this point. I'm driving to Germany tomorrow so will have to persevere when I come back.

To those that have had their injectors replaced without previous incident - do you know if fault codes were showing when you took it to the dealer?

X2 VW Customer service are pulling all the strings here.

What you have to bare in mind is that unless they give the dealer authorisation they wont get paid.

As mentioned in numerous threads mine has had no failures. Now I have 4 new injectors plus loom. It feels a lot better to drive and far smoother than before
Called them about an hour ago, spoke to a very helpful chap who has started a case for me, and says that the customer service manager will be in touch in the next 24-48hrs. Meantime, I am to book the car in with my local dealer, tell them that Customer Services are aware of the problem, and show them my V5 - they will then assess what is needed, and replace as many injectors as needed FOC; he also advised that I try and find the receipt for the injector that failed last year, and they would sort a refund

So far, so good - well done VW!!

I do wonder if there might have been a deal of 'persuasion' on behalf of VOSA though (change them all voluntarily and we will avoid the embarrassment of a recall?)

By the way Rappy - I hope Mrs Rappy is chuffed with the new boots on her car, mine continue to be quiet, ride well and the car is sure footed no matter how wet the roads are (and they were saturated here this morning).
