    Need help,

95 jetta glx vr6, automatic, 190,000kms, nothing done to engine except autotech q-chip.

When I first start the car it will idle fine. After driving a half block or so and stopping at an intersection, the idle drops to about 400 rpm, the car shakes bad, and will die if I dont step on the gas. Once its back in park it idles around 700 rpm and shakes some more. Any ideas??

Could well be or the Air Mass Meter on it's way out.

Try removing the throttle body and thoroughly cleaning as your first port of call.

I cleaned the throttle body, and the car ran good for a week or so. Now it runs fine first thing in the morning, for my 30 minute commute to work, but on the way home it starts to idle rough again, and I spend most of my time at intersections with the car in neutral, and revved up to about 1000 rpm. Any ideas??

I will check that vaccum line.
