    Passat 2.0l setdi dsg box

does anybody get a sharp takeup from stationary, with auto brake on.
I can be waiting in a line of traffic, then touch the throttle to move off, and instead of a smooth pickup, the car kangaroo's.
It doesnt always do it but it can be frustrating when it does.
Maybe there is some adjustment dealer can do.
    Many thanks

It does take some getting used too and the effects depend, for example, on whether you're on the level or going up an incline. On the level, I find I need to gently tap the throttle to release the auto hold before applying some more throttle (again, gently!). Facing uphill requires much more care and, if the hill is atall steep, I would use the parking brake instead.
Just for interest, i have just posted a comment about the auto-hold & parking brake combined with DSG in a thread about the former. (https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=34443)

Just to say that I have noticed a bit of hesitation on intial pick-up, just as you describe. I mentioned it to the dealer who said it is normal.
If I could, I would like a little bit smoother pick-up from standstill, and a bit quicker responce when just rolling up to a roundabout and I want instant accelaration to fit into a gap. I have taken to selecting Sport in these situations but you cannot always predict them, and even in sport it doesnt respond instantly.
There is probably nothing wrong with it, but I will mention it again when it goes for its first service.

Mine has been doing this for a while. Went in for checks yesterday at the dealer and they rang to say it needs a new gearbox ! Yikes I,m towing my caravan 360 miles to Cornwall this weekend says I. Don't worry sir it will be OK to tow with. They agree there is a fault but do not know exactly what it is as they are not allowed to go into gearbox, Volkswagen must know of some problem if they are replacing just like that even if it is under 12 months old.

I have towed my caravan and seems to be OK apart from this snatching from rest

So if you see a black SEL 170 broken down on the hard shoulder on Friday it's me

    Oh happy holidays !

You deserve to break-down for towing a caravan on the motorway on a Friday!!

Only joking, my DSG (140 diesel) feels fine although as the others have said it does take a bit of getting used to.

I've had snatch\ hesitation, and had wondered if it was a fuel pump problem as widely reported in this forum, but after going back to the dealers on Thursday to have the dodgy when wet parking sensors replaced, I mentioned the jerkiness again, and they checked it out. VW asked them to do a software update to the gearbox (?), and its still an issue, and they have been told to replacde the box under waranty. Sounds like it must be a known problem, as they jumped to doing a replacement pretty quickly.

I have the car back at the moment while they order the 'box, but should be going back in next week.

Hopefully this will be the cure.

Now mine has just started with something different.

I start up and drive away as normal, all ok. Then after abut two miles the gearbox goes to sleep! it refuses to change gear and when it does it takes 1-2 seconds to switch gear. Stop the car, turn off the ignition, restart and all will be back to normal for the next two miles! does it in manual, drive and sport mode....

its in the dealer now. Anyone else had this???

HAving a new DSG box fitted today under warranty, so hopefully the jerkiness \ snatching will be a distant memory soon. Also getting the parking sensors replaced for second time as they dont work in the rain!!
