    Hi gents
how much oil do you have to top up between oil changes?

mine just done over 3k miles, and dropped from full mark to half mark on the dipstick. i bet this is normal for high milage tdi. its 05 plate 105bhp pd engine. quantum oil 5w-30 used.

I found on a golf & a bora 105 bhp 1.9 tdi full to half was much quicker than half to fill mark, it was much the same on a 2.0 tdi touran which was on long life regeme and over 130k miles, but now I have a 1.9 tdi 105 bhp which over 8k miles has not dropped at all.

Ours has always been keen on oil since new - '56 plate 1.9 105bhp now on 83000mls.It also destroyed its clutch at 50000,eats track rod ends, bursts rear springs, central locking plays up and the gearbox is starting to complain. But saying all that its a great load lugger and family car and we'll probably keep it until it falls apart.

In the 18k miles between long life services my '09 2.0 pd uses around 1 or 1.5 litres of oil.

I've a theory that the car burns oil when it starts to get dirty, as the consumption is erratic and seems unrelated to use.

54 plate 1.9pd, 102k miles, uses around 0.75 litre between 10k oil changes. Thats using Quantum platinum 5/30.
