    HI,
I have a 2001 1.8T Quattro sport. My commute is 17 mile each way, nealry all dual carriageway. When I got the car, I checked the consumption and it was about 33mpg, it's dropped to 28 now, despite driving @ 70 and very "economy minded" It's the single fuel rail AVJ engine, about 15k since it's last service (plugs) so I need an air filter I reckon but any other pointers to the drop of in consumption?
    TIA!
    Darren

it could be a lamda issue which is causing the car to run rich burning addtional fuel?

Hook it up to VAG-COM and check the codes..

OK, thanks. I have stopped driving so economically and am back to 85-ish to work and as far as I can tell it's improved the mpg (no DIS so tank range only) I'll tell better when it needs filling up
