So I was wondering today on a long M6 journey, if VW own VW (obviously), Audi, Skoda, Seat, Porsche, Lambourghini, Bugatti etc; and oyota oroduce Toyota, Lexus; GM own Vauxhall, Holden, Opel etc. How many car companies (parent companies) can we actually buy from?

I reckon I have the following list of seperate manufacturers:

    VW
    BMW
    Tata
    Toyota
    Fiat
    Ford
    Honda
    Daimler Chrysler
    Nissan
    Suzuki

In fact, some of these companies have 45%stake in others in the list, and there has been talk of some of them buying others, so you could argud there are even less than on this list.

    Have I missed any?

Does Mercedes come under the Daimler Chrysler group? Couldn't be sure, will have to look it up. Good call on Peugeot/Citroen though.

The most surprising thing for me was that Tata owns Jaguar and Land Rover. I didn't realise that. I thought Jag was Ford owned.

There are some I forgot there. For instance Subaru, although there are some that don't count - for instance Fiat Grouo own Fiat, Maseratti, Alfa AND Lancia. There are others there that I'm sure are inter-owned.

    Nope and they are!

But I think they are still servicing the cars in the UK.

What's this list supposed to represent Jim? A list of sub companies? Corvette is actually a model made by Chevrolet (GM).
    One German, Two Italian.
    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though
