Do we need to wait for another failure before chasing this up, or can we do it pre-emptively?

Me again, VW Leeds just phoned and got me booked in with courtesy car for week on monday, confirmed all four injectors if needed, so get the form filled in ASAP they're definately playing ball now the pressure is on, of course they said this was done out of goodwill but who gives a flyin' as long as it gets done still can't believe it!

OK, So on Friday i experienced the dreaded Injector failure on my Passat 2.0TDI Sport, i have open a line on communication with VW after the injector was replaced by a diesel mechanic that i was recovered to.
I was looking for advice of how to deal with VW customer services to escalate this to a point of them refunding and replacing all my injectors and wiring loom.

I'd just reached 95k on a 2005 plate, i thought from other posts i was safe and had bosch but unfortunately i wasn't and it hurt.

Any help you can give guys would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Do we think there is going to be a full recall on this? It seems pretty daft and potentially dangerous to me that VW will investigate/fix if you get VOSA involved - seems they have acknowledged the fault and potential danger involved. In many respects the outcome of a failure and danger that results is similar to the fuel pump failure that caused a full recall a few years ago. (Though the cost to VW has got to be hugely higher!!)
Should I just get the form filled out and sent off - the Wife's 2.0 TDI has done 51k and has full VW service book..

I have 2.0 140 se passat late 2007 plate, engine code bkp . The mileage is now 83k.
I contacted VW to ask if my car had been refiited with the new injectors, and they have no record, so i assume, without physically checking , that the original injectors are present. I also asked if VW would replace (FOC) any or all injectors following a breakdown, and they replied they were not sure?
To be honest, this really should be made a recall, as safety is paramount, i do not relish the fact of engine shutdown in the fast lane with children in the car, possibly raining also , imagine the consequence of that? VW dealer i spoke to actually admitted that there were problems concerning these injectors, so why arent they recalling them instead of risking a fatality through faulty parts?

Totally agree with you - the fact that with VOSA involvement VW will now replace injectors that are deemed faulty on inspection (would suggest that's pretty much all of them) is surely and admission of guilt with respect to the severity of the fault - and potential danger. I too don't want to be in a situation where it fails at speed on a dark wet motorway with kids on-board. I hope they do recall before someone is killed!

The only issue here has got to be cost - those injectors aint cheap and if they start changing them on passats then every other model that uses a similar unit in the VW group will also have to be recalled..

Update!!! My passat is booked in for next Tuesday at the local VW dealer.

VW customer service has been excellent!!!

Anyone with the bkp engine should contact VOSA.

VW customer service has said that they will replace any old injectors with new ones regardless of their age etc....

Apparently there is a new up rated injector that will not fail like the old one i.e. cut out on a motorway at high speed. My main dealer was a bit vague as my car is still running. VW customer service has said they will be replaced free of charge no questions asked if my car has the old ones fitted.

    Result!!!!!!! Thank you VW.

This sounds great - and is a real result as the potential cost of replacement was always nagging at me - however if this is the case and VW's position, then why isn't this being done as a recall??
