This has been discussed on here a few times. Do a search - there's a few taxi drivers around who'll help as well.

VW told me it can't be turned off as it's a safety feature, I think Vag-Com would be able to turn it off, but quite what the insurance would say I just don't know for sure.

It is an irritant though, I must have to tell ppl 5 times a day to buckle in, and it makes carrying anything on the seat that isn't human a pain as well.

What happens if you just buckle-up the belt across the seat? Or just stuff a suitably sized piece of metal or plastic in the clip?

Mine was faulty from new on the driver's side so has never been an issue, but obviously the passenger side still beeps, and this indirectly draws attention to the fact that I don't wear my belt, and the punters can get a bit stroppy about it, particulary as many don't know that taxi drivers are exempt and won't believe you if you tell them.

I should really wear mine more often though.

    Vag-Com!

Stuart buckle up! There's nothing cool about not wearing one, especially when we have to peel your remains from the windscreen!

Good advice Tom, but sadly we have to deal with the scum of the earth, the whole reason we are allowed to skip it is incase some loon decides to use it against us.

I'm campaigning for harness belts for the drivers with 12 inch panic ejection stakes fitted in the rear seat, lolly pops anyone?

I had a bad rta myself, got sided by a DDer, spun me twice before I came to a rest in the barriers, during the action I remember thinking I had a blowout and was busy opp locking the wheel to control it, when it eventually stopped I had been twisted badly (don't think the belt would've helped here) and I managed to butt the rear view mirror off (belt may have prevented this) and had abrasions to my shoulder from the seat fabric, today I'm left with a weak lower back, and a clicking neck, all because 3 of our turd generation couldn't spare a tenner each to get a cab home, but even though I only wear it when I'm not working, or I get the dam it I'm wearing it anyway moment, I still say it's 90% gonna save you, and 10% kill you if you suffer the wrong sort of accident, so it's a 9/1 in favour.
