Unfortunatley i am in the position of reporting motorists for excess speed as a Police Officer.

Sadly when you break a speed limit and if (and when) you are caught by either a Gatso, Truvelo, Static Cam or Police Vehicle using Provida VASCAR you must accept the consequences. Speeding kills hundreds every year and i see a fair amount of RTC's whereby excess speed v's inexperience is the main contributory factor.

My most memorable and horrific RTC was on the M1 whereby a 21 year old female travelling to work was hit in her 1993 Peugeot 306 XL by a driver in a Vectra who was travelling at an average of 102.2mph. He was being followed by an unmarked video vehicle when he struck the Peugeot from behind that had started to overtake a slow moving vehicle in the centre lane. The Car hit the central reservation and the vehicle flipped, according to the video car, about 4 times before hitting a bridge pillar. The vehicle then caught fire on impact with the bridge. We arrived 9-10 minutes after the accident to a scene of carnage.

Myself and my colleague were then sent to Leicester where we delievred the news to her mum and fiance, the scene got worse when we learned that her dad was killed by a drunk driver in South Yorkshire only 4 years earlier.

The driver of the Vectra was charged and admitted death by dangerous driving, he committed suicide not long after being released from prison.

2 Families devestated by excess speed v's inexperience.

Please guys slow down, please stick to the limits and drive safely.
