in terms of BHP sorry but its self explanatory the 150 is the one to go for. in terms of driveability though, the 130 is the best choice and has proven the most popular. the trouble with the 150 is the size of the turbo and the spool up time involved in it (lag) but if you're going to have it remapped, i wouldnt think that would be a massive issue.

safe gains purely from a remap (without any other upratings) are around 35/50 bhp, not sure of what torque increases you can expect.

Both engines will tune up to approx the same figures.

However the 150 has a more efficient front mounted intercooler as standard. (130 has smic) slightly upgraded turbo and ECU map.

With a remap you are looking at around 185bhp (max safe map).

With a larger turbo + remap + clutch (or better spring rates on pressure plate), you are looking at 250bhp+ and massive torque.

Much over 250 and you will struggle to apply the power in low gears.

If you tune the PD, much more regular oil changes will be needed to prevent potential problems.

200-220bhp is more than adequate for road use.

the 150 tdi already has a turbo.... ini's suggestion is to fit a larger one, usually known as stage 1 etc etc, im not very well versed in this area so unable to offer much more advice. another common mod is to move the intercooler to the front of the engine, but i think the 150 already has it there.

if you intend on putting a larger turbo in and going past 200bhp, you're going to have to start uprating, things like your clutch, flywheel, brakes, shoes etc etc.

i have deleted your 2 other duplicate posts, please refrain from littering the forum with duplicate posts

    vagueness

hmm... which engine are you talking about? the 130 or the 150? the 130 would not be able to handle 200bhp, much the same the 150 would not be able to handle 220 without any uprated gear being fitted

what type of uprated things would i need to apply to it? if you were me which 1 would you go for the 130 or the 150 because i think i will go with the 130 and get a chip which will bring it to 160. then is it possible to put a bigger turbo in it if i can what will i need to upgrade and do i get less miles to the gallon and is there any downsides like stress on the engine. basically i want a quite a fast diesel golf with good miles to the gallon and i will be doing alot of miles ?????????

Well if your looking to spend out on a 130 or 150 and then spend even further on all these modifications, why don't you just buy an new MK5 GT TDI 170PS and save yourself the hassle.
