    Hi

Have come up against a problem today with my T5 - central locking is not working. If you sit in the van and activate the key fob a buzzing (or electrical shorting) type sound can be heard but I cannot locate the source. My initial reaction was a relay fault located under the drivers seat but I cannot see anything there and I'm not sure now that the sound is coming from there.

    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Neil

My T5 also has a central locking problem. It is very intermittent. It hardly ever works using the remote but it does via key in lock.

I've re-programmed, re-synced, checked relays and nothing has sorted it.

    Can anyone help us?

Ahh, you have something else. I've always wondered if these T5s suffer with water getting to the CCUs like the A6s, but nobody ever told me where the CCU is on one of these.

Do you have access to VAG-COM?

Holten Check fuse 11, the buzzing you hear is coming from the central control unit for the convenience system.Does the central locking not work from both doors? Check the wiring harness from the A pillars to the doors, pull back the rubber grummets, there has been quite a few problems with the wires breaking, paul b you can check the signals from the remotes in measured value blocks,i think i said to you before,a wrong connection on the radio can cause your problem,to check this out, remove the radio connector. There has been no problems with water ingress

    Hi Kenny

Thanks for your suggestions. The passenger door does not have a position to operate the lock with a key.

Fuse 11 is good and I have pulled back the gator and checked the wiring. Harness looks to be in good condition.

An added problem is that the drivers door is reluctant to lock with the key. The locked\open indicator by the window hardly moves when the key is turned and the door sometimes locks and sometimes doesnt. Does this suggest that the door internal mechanism is at fault?

Yes it would seem there is a fault with the lock, which in turn could be the problem with the CL

Cheers Kenney, will try the radio tonight and then will try the measuring blocks as soon as my VAG-COM is back up and running.

    Hi Kenny

My problem turned out to be corrosion in the loom and and connector under the front seat that pressumably feeds the control unit. Repaired the wires and all is OK now. Go windsurfing a lot and I think some salt water has got down there and messed up the wiring.

    Thanks for your suggestions

    Neil
