Hi I am new to the forum. I have just bought an Audi A6 estate 1.9 TDI Automatic
A beautiful drive, however when I try to start the car when the engine is warm it shakes and rattles, but once started drives fine.
It starts fine when cold. I have been told that it could be the dual mass flywheel ?? Does a diesel automatic have a dual mass flywheel ??

I'm no expert but, if it's DSG, then I believe so.

It will also have one if it's the multitronic box.

    No DSG gearbox on C5's
On PD engines, the injector wiring loom inside the engine can breakdown its insulation, and cause missfires, and very rough running at idle. The problem with this, is mostly they don't throw any fault codes.

I moved this post to the C5 section based on the information given by the OP (it was previously in Chat - Anything with wheels)

If I've got it wrong and it's a FL model, I'll move it to the C6 section.

Thanks Bluezie, The engine runs smooth once started from hot or cold. The problem is when trying to start when warm or hot, worse when hotter. The engine rattles violently when hot when trying to start up, but once fired runs ok.
The only other thing is that the temperature gauge on the dash never gets up to 90, usually about 70-80. Thought it might be a temp sensor ??
When I ran the scan, it gave no fault codes
