In what respect? It is a common failure, I quoted on one yesterday.

Thanks Crasher. My daughter's 85000 mile car needs a replacement DMF at cost of £1340 at local vw dealership , whom I have always found to be excellent in every way . Purchased from new and always serviced there, I just wanted some reassurance on the price and whether she should get a new clutch done at the same time . Garage says not neccessary but cant help thinking it should be.

I bought my Golf Mk5 TDI DSG 4 months ago with 75,000 on the clock and the first thing I noticed was the faint rattling sound so I instantly knew it was the DMF. I was lucky as I took it straight back to where I bought it and they get a new one sent over from Audi Guildoford and fitted it a few days later. Apparently the old type of DMF only lasted up to 80,000 but they (Audi/VW) have upgraded it since then so your new one will be super improved!!

Id definetly get the clutch done at the same time, i had a dmf failure on my old golf tdi, no problem with the clutch but had it changed whilst everything is out, saves a job and ££ at a later date
