Hi guys, I am new to this forum.

I have got a problem of my golf GT TDI 150 Engine.

The funny knocking sound exactly the same as the engine shown in the video I found.

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Matt.H/VW%20Golf%20GTTDI%20150/?action=view&current=P1000569.flv

It will only happen when the engine is cold, it cures itself when the engine warms up or at 70C-80C. It seems to play in a special rhythm (like having a party inside) when the

    tapping noise happen.

I have been told by different people with different possible causes. But before I do any further action. i would like to ask for you guys advice first. cause it always helps.

    Thanks very much!!!!

Had a similar problem with seat - was related to Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) - replaced under warranty and had no further problems.

    Hi, Thanks for your reply.

It might be a silly question to you, but why would the knocking happen only when the car is cold. I would assume the knock will presist if that is cause by the flywheel, coz the flywheel will stay the same no matter what temperature it is in.

I might be wrong, thats just what I guess.......

    Thanks!

If you depress the clutch and the noise goes, or reduces significantly, its the DMF.

If the flywheel were to expand when it became warm or hot, it may well trap any loose components..

It also sounds like a starter motor that is loose and catching the ring gear, is that your car in the video ? That ones been on a rolling road and mapped, so it would be fair to assume the clutch has had some grief from the BHP increase.
