    i know its a silly question but have you tried the key
    one way locks then all over to the other side should unlock overiding the cdl

    If theres no success, done it will be the boot latch. I had that problem too boot wouldn't open. It cost me £13 to get it done from an Indi.

    I had a similar issue on my A4. The specific problem on mine was that the actuator motor thing was struggling to pull the release. Replaced that and is now working fine. Cost about £15 for the parts from Audi and took me about 10 minutes or so to swap it over. Will see if I can find the invoice for the part number if you want.
