Well I've just changed my injector wiring lom on my VW Passat Estate TDI 115bhp W.reg

remove the rocker cover, disconnect air intake pipe at the rear of the rocker and move out off way, disconnect wiring loom at socket see photos, undo 10mm bolt on top and 10mm nut on lower side of loom connector. (use a small socket for this and its not that hard!)

unplug all 4 injector clips they just pull upward and they disconnect (lay them back in the plastic stip like the new one and it'll make withdrawing the loom easier.

Right have a look at the photos in this link: http://www.photobox.co.uk/my/album?album_id=221137693
especially the ones where I am inserting the new loom, see how I feed it in from the right with a slight curve so it slides in, Take your time and keep checking when it stops it'll be oe of the clips just feel the loom and you'll be able to slowly feed it in, once in ensure its facing the correct way then ensure its in the clipped position, the two metal clips on the loom should be secure, now before making any connections fit the 10mm bolt and 10mm not that holds the loom connecting head at the rear of the rocker, now unclip the 4 connectors from the loom and simply plug em in, now connect the loom socket head (MAKE SURE YOU ALIGN THE MARKS UP, ONE ON THE LOOM AND ONE ON THE CONNECTOR (SEE PHOTOS) when twisting the connector back on make sure it clicks!!!. the rest is plane sailing just reassemble air intake hoes e.t.c. at the rear of the rocker before fitting the rocker cover back on, JOB DONE
I HOPE THIS OF HELP TO SOMEONE OUT THERE AS I COULD NOT FIND ANY PHOTOS OR HELP ON THIS MATTER!!! COME GUYS MAKE AN EFFORT LIFES TOUGH ENOUGH AS IT IS!

Did it fix my hessitating engine NO!!! I'm looking at other things now, so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

    Cheers vroooOOOM

    Snap,

I've had the same issue, with the judder/misfire. Swapped the harness on Sunday and i've still got the issue however I thaught has improved a small amount.........

Have you done fuel filter air filter?

I scanned for fault codes today and I did not find a single one

My issue has occured since re-building the top end with a new head cam & tappets, before the tappet went bang and caused the re-build my car was misfire free.

    cheers,

    Dan

This year I have had four PD engines with running problems that where connected to a faulty injector, three showed no dtc's pointing to an injector fault on a scan!

I diagnosed the problem using VCDS measured block values where each cylinder's injector has live data. Worth checking before going anywhere else.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers for the reply krautmender,

The VCDS diagnostics you used is that the new name for vag com, can this data only be diagnosed at a VAG main dealer?

Would it pay me to double check that the injectors are set correctly via the dti method of cam sharft at tdc then set the injector by screwing adjuster to bottom the turning adjuster back half a turn?

vroooOOOM have you had your engine scanned for codes on VCDS to check for this problem?

    Cheers,

    Buzz

Yes VCDS is the later version of VAG-COM. You don't have to go to a dealer for a diagnostic scan either (unless you know a tech who takes the odd bung!), quite a few workshops now use good equipment such as Snap-On which should be able to read block values.

Well after fitting a new Injector wiring loom it made no difference, finally decided to change MAF and Fuel filter, changed fuel filter first as it was the cheaper option. and yes it fixed the stutter, I did pour the contents of the old filter into a bowl and there was a lot of small black particles, wish I had changed this when I did the oil and oil filter change 10K ago, Oh well live n learn.
PS wil not change MAF meter as all seems OK now.

Hope this helps someone out there.

S**t hot news dude, well done!

I changed my filter the other day and it did jack however I spoke to the compant who rebuilt my cylinder head and he told me that they only"roughly" set my injectors up.

So fingers crossed I'm going to have a go at re setting them and fingers crossed It will sort out my judder too.

    Well done

Thanks for the instructions and photos of inserting the new cable harness into the cylinder head.
My engine has been misfiring between 2000 and 3000 RPM for about 5 mins after an initial 10 mins of driving (when the engine gets to 90 degrees)
195000 miles and 11 years old.
I had put up with it - I kept out of that rev range for 3 miles of commuting. Then yesterday it decided to continue misfiring permanently after reaching 90 degrees.
Checked the injector wiring loom and all the cables looked very hard.
New harness from VW. I followed the photographs for installation - it's amazing how far it bends. The old one was brittle and snapped during removal.
Engine now running nicely - just as it was before the fault arose.
    Took about an hour.
A little tip - remove the two fuel pipes from the top of the filter that go over the plastic air inlet pipe. The air pipe then can easily be lifted out once the vacuum pipes are unclipped from it.
