smoke on start up when cold

Hi everybody hope someone can help I have T4 which I have fitted a 1.9 tdi engine out of a Golf AHU 90 bhp it has been and still is running great but with the cold weather a problem has arisen with starting.It will start immediately smokes (blue/grey ) and runs lumpy as if choked up after driving off about 50 yards it clears and then is ok until gets cold again I have fitted new glow plugs as it was suggested that could be problem but they were ok and problem still there I am thinking possibly worn injectors (180,000 miles has anyone any other suggestions or can confirm my diagnosis.

could be an injector. did you check the glow plugs are actually powering up.

Thanks for quick reply yes have checked glow plugs powering up and all ok.It will start instantly no matter how cold weather is but smoking gets worse has detiorated each winter so now is probably time to sort out hence question just to be sure.
