I would imagine, that you have volume only via the car controls Is that correct?.

Yeah I've only got the RCD310 so just the volume, but that's the same with the Aux I just don't need another cable trailing across the car this way.

And as you mention the bluetooth quality may not be the best.
The MDI cable is located in the small storage bin just in front of the gearstick, below the heating controls. It can be a bit of a tight fit as the cable is quite stiff and not that long so limiting the position of the device you attach to it. That was one of the main reasons we put the music on an SD card which is by far the simplest solution.

Another drawback with bluetooth (apart from the possible loss of quality already mentioned) is that you have very limited control of track/album/artist/playlist selection from the screen or steering wheel controls, so have to resort to using the controls on the device, which somewhat defeats the object.

I've no idea what Deezer is or does, but if you can find a way to get your music on to the SD card in any compatible format, then I'd go for that.

As I now have the car I can add my comments

Music can be played via bluetooth whic is good. I can change tracks, increase volume, all via the steering controls. No Art work but TBH that is not a big issue, although this would be nice.

Maybe I was spoilt before, I find the sound quality terrible. It seems staged towards the front of the car. I have burned in the speakers as per all my expensive audio equipment.

My Passat had the Dynaudio 10 speaker audio. kind of annoyed as I was so close to adding Dynaudio, that was the best in car system I had ever heard. The reviews seemed to state that for the Mk7 it was not so good.

My findings are radio, terrible. DAB slightly better, but!!! Bluetooth, sounds great. Not the quality I m use to but great. This is the only niggle I have with the car, until you pair bluetooth, then I'm happy
