B8 Avant 3.0 TDi S Tronic - Views on them?

Does anyone have a 3.0 tdi s Tronic that they have had and could offer any opinions on? The good, the bad and the ugly! I'm considering swapping my 2.0 tdi for a 3.0 tdi - mines too under powered. I have searched and read all the current posts on owners views on this vehicle or engine. Just wandered if there was anything else?

Long term economy, I do approx 30k miles a year.

Reliability of the Quattro system as the car I have my eye on is a 3.0 S Line Quattro?

People often say the 3.0 is the engine to have due to the chains rather than belts used, any truth?

Anyone have one of these engines with mega mileage on it? Probably 150k plus, to gauge long term reliability?

She only has around 20k on hers but no reliability issues at all so far. Afraid I know nothing about it being belt or chain driven. She gets upto 43mpg on a run but you can add 1-2 mpg to that if driven in Eco mode. And on short trips it drops depending on how short.

I went from a Fwd 170 to the 245 Quattro and it makes driving enjoyable again, it makes me smile, it see's off nearly anything and it sounds lovely.

What else you need to know?, "oh" the fuel comsumption? Audi BS bigtime, but I get an honest 36mpg, mixed driving but I just stick at 70 most of time on motorway but I don't hang about anywhere else because it's the not hanging about that makes this car fun to drive.

To put in perspective, the CR170 was doing about 42mpg, I now got an extra litre, two extra cylinders, a complicated 4wd system and big sticky winter tyres, so 36mpg is not that bad is it?

They are chains and don't seem to suffer fro DPF issues either.

My beast is 3.0 Tdi Quattro Tiptronic. Its 5 yrs old, 64k on clock and Revo mapped. Real world economy is 34-36 and on a long motorway run 40mpg.
I do drive it hard and love the torque and road holding. Mine is an Avant too.
The only problem I had was the EGR cooler packed in but was under warranty. Audi had it 10 days fixing it and i believe it was a big job.

Lovely engine. Paddle shifts also make it an enjoyable drive.

How has yours been reliability wise? How many miles have you got on the clock? I have to say I wish I had just waited and got the 3ltr straight off. I have managed to track down a 3.0 tdi version with almost exactly the same spec as mine, which has heightened my interest.
