My rear wiper is staying on, once I have switched it on, any idea why that could be happening? I usually leave the air suspension in the automatic position, but I've just noticed that if I turn it the the Allroad position, after a few seconds it flicks back to the automatic position. Both problems noticed for the first time thgis weekend, after all the snow that we have had. Perish the thought but could they be related in some way?

    Hi,

On mine when the wiper was misbehaving it had started to leak screen wash internally...

Ref the how to here Link:- VW AUDI Forum - VWAF

You maybe experiencing some kinda of water shorting issue in plenum chamber? have you checked drains clear there?

All of the above is just observations/best guesses ...

can't be more helpful perhaps a more experienced member/with same fault experience will come along ...

Maybe a VCDS scan/diags will show something? you could try PM a member on the map Link:- http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=...5be14b22419dbe

My air suspension does something similar. When I turn the knob and then click to set it into "Comfort" setting it never sets itself to comfort height.
It just stays in Automatic or Allroad. If I turn the knob and push it into any other setting it goes to that setting and the circular dial on the MMI shows that it is in that setting but the vertical bars show that it is in automatic or allroad. I can also feel the car raise or lower to those other settings.
But for comfort setting it just won't go there.

As per Gup - mine would not switch off because water had leaked into the motor and sent it mental. New motor or refurb of motor fixes. Gup has done a good guide for refurbing, failing that £105 from a dealer get you a new one.

RE the modes and what they do there is some info in the SSP 344 (google for it there are two parts to it)...

The above SSP also states to cross ref the A8 SSP 292...

Another great read is SSP 242 & SSP 243...

Generally tech/principles cross over in the VAG range...

It maybe there is a software update out for a control module if car is not behaving as it should when a setting is selected...

Again only observations or guesses ...

It turns out that the removable washer spry was blocked completely...looks like corrosion, as there was dirty brown water coming out of the motor when I disconnect the hose. That sprays OK now through the motor spindle..straight out of the back of the car. Not had the motor off yet, but I guess it is damaged internally. Just need to get the motor off when I can remove the wiper arm and strip and check it. As for the suspension problem...an RTFM error diagnosed and fixed...
