    Hi Guys,
Since the other day the steering on my car started rattling and juddering up through the steering wheel. This is only happening at idle. No problem on motorway, etc. Having checked the steering fluid, i then suspected the power steering pump. However, browsing the forums for similar experiences, I now suspect either the serpentine belt tensioner or the alternator pulley. At idle, the tensioner is a little jumpy (not sure if this is normal?). I removed the belt and the alt pulley is locking in both directions, (using screwdriver against fan). There does not seem to be any charge issues or battery light. I know I should probably change both items, but being Christmas week, funds are limited. Anyone willing to take a wager that its the alt pulley? Should there be a bit of jumping on the tensioner?

I'm sure it's unrelated but I changed the coolant temp sender about 3 weeks ago.
Also, at the moment she can be sluggish at the top end on the motorway, struggling with power, having to go down the gears, and not getting above 110mph, this seems to be on a return journey only. Any ideas? Turbo?
    Thanks in advance.

if you changed the alternator clutch pulley now, it might save you the added expense of a new tensioner and belt later.
