Trading Standards, good people; they try to separate the wheat from the chaff. If only they could close down garages that are w@nker5!

Very true. I personally think that it is one of them departments that concentrate their focus on the hardworking, decent people where as the cowboys are left alone as they are not as easy of a target This is not a dig at the above user by the way lol

Humans will always fire at the easiest target first, it is our nature, what do sales people call it "low hanging fruit"? What they need is the guts to get in there and dig out the rot like a restoration chap gets in there with the angle grinder to cut out the rust. There will always be bad people making the rest of us look bad and unfortunately a certain irrepressible cadre of people appear to be building up that don't give a ****, all they care about is how much cash they can screw you for, its very depressing.

We need someone that wants to make a name for him/herself.... Someone that doesn't want to "go with the flow".... Someone that is not just in it for the handy work..... Someone that.... actually.... nope, thats only in the movies. Until then we will keep the lube handy and our pants down !

0/10 for observation, how did I miss this thread, a very interesting read.

I'm a Built Asset Consultant within the utilities sector.

I get frowned at sometimes for choosing to drive an old VW instead of a new Audi I also get frowned at sometimes when I go to work with hands still filthy from fettling my old VW. But that is a great conversation topic as a lot of people cannot believe I get down and dirty with the spanners.

All but two in my office are spanners, I shudder at the thought of getting down and dirty with them.

It was my dream to join the RAF, they turned me down because of eyesight difficulties, the wife says they were just being nice and I was turned down for being ugly
