Glad its not just mine then. No water ingress issues, but the locking has a mind of its own. As far as I can tell, the speed sensor is working (ABS works, as does the cruise control / dash etc). As an aside, when mine does work, it will re-lock the doors on pulling away after unlocking from the drivers door to let someone out.

The software in mine was obviously developed by Microsoft...

I've got a bit further now using VAG-COM.

Intermittent failures 01557, 01558 and 01561 are being reported.

The most relevant one seems to be:
01558 Contact Switch in Locking Cyl: Driver Side: Close (F241) 29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent.

Unfortunately this shareware version of VAG-COM/Serial->UBS Cable cannot see the Central Convenience Module..

The wires in the door loom are known to break, might be worth looking at, pull back the rubber sleeve between the door and "A" pillar.

    Ross-Tech: VCDS-Lite: Download

The unregistered shareware version of VCDS-Lite is free for non-commercial use, but no support of any kind is available. Use in a commercial environment requires registration.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

Look at this list and you will see the shareware version is extremely restricted, it won't even list the description of about more than one fault code, personally I think it is hopeless and the registered version is quite restrictive on later CAN BUS cars. Just go full and get on with it!

I also seem to have this problem with my car, it also intermittently decides to flick from anti hijack to normal mode for no apparent reason. This appears to be quite a common fault, I will have to follow this thread closely to find out what is the cause.

Check the condition of your battery. Mine did this when the car had been standing for 6 weeks. Once the battery was put on charge for 48 hours it started working again. The car ran in between these times but the anti hijack stopped working until the battery was at full health.
