Just bought an A4 3.0 Cabby with a broken dipstick - the ex-owner told me he was bending it to see how flexible it was, when it snapped in half...

Anyway, I bought a new one off Fleabay for £13-99, so the moral is- don't bend your dipstick...

Yeah you need to watch out for the dip sticks on the 3.0 V6, they are made of plastic, had my one snap in two when I went to checking the oil. Dam lucky escape as its a sump removal to get the remaining piece out if it brakes while putting it back.

That is common on the 1.9tdi also, they get very brittle and snap easily.

what is the opinion of the dipsticks on ebay. i am also in need as plastic around the top broke off checking oil in the summer, fortunately was able to wedge it against pipe and dipstick and pull it out so no harm done. had intended to buy from audi regardless of cost incase poor quality.

I bought one from TPS in the summer for my 1.8T, its a metal one with the orange plastic at the top, it was less than £5, i lost a bit of the plastic down the tube hole into the sump, drained the oil a couple of weeks later but nothing plastic came out, it was about the size of a pea so no harm done i assume.

Exceptional value considering that from an Audi dealer it costs £7.69 inc. VAT...

TPS or trade parts specialists deal with the trade and supply genuine audi group parts to the trade, i have a trade account as i service several audi's and am down as a fleet user. The prices for the normal service items are much cheaper than from Audi.
