Left home this afternoon and didn't manage 100yds before the car spluttered. Got to the end of the estate and it just stopped dead in the junction with "workshop - low oil pressure" warning on the dashboard. Managed to get the car into N and rolled it back out of harms way before ringing my local VW. Diagnosed it as most likely injectors but obviously needed it there (23miles away) to make sure. I was pleasantly surprised to be told if I got it to them and it was the injectors that they would do them all FOC.

Anyway long story short after organising to get the car to VW they rang me back to say that yeah it is the injectors and that they had them ordered to come in tomorrow. Hopefully they can turn the car around quickly and have it for me tomorrow. Gave me an excuse to change the other glow plugs that hadn't been changed lately but I dread to think of what might have happened had I been overtaking another car and it just cut on me.

Marty, I'm sorry to have to tell you this but I think you have oil pump failure there rather than inj trouble, 55-07 plate car?

Ignore this I just saw your last part of the post, I can't understand why low oil pressure came up though, normally it's garage fault that comes up, glad you've escaped though, check the engine number anyway, could be crucial in future.

Get your logbook out and look at the engine number if it ends in less than 50000 it's probably the bad batch of pumps, your next move should be to get VW to assist in paying for repairs, they know this is an issue, they won't pay it all but if you can get the bill lowered to a sensible level it will help, normally if it's just the pump and turbo gone it's around £1500, or if it's done the whole lump it's up to £4k, reading what you said I suspect you haven't done the lump in and hopefully if you caught it in time the turbo will be ok still as well.

Sorry, just prepping you for the bad news when it comes.
