I noticed the other day that when I lifted the rear passenger side mat, that one of the plastic mat securing screws was a bit wet.
So obviously I have a problem.
I want to check all possibilities to the source of the leak.

Where is the a/c condenser drain pipe ? and what do I do? apparently this can be a problem.

Also what is the procedure to part lifting the carpet for inspection?

Rear wet carpets are usually caused by the rear door seal needing replacing. Test by pouring water down/around the door. Overflow from the front footwell may cause rear wet carpets as can sunroof drains (if you have one..) Or rear wash wipe hose splits on estates.

If you want to check the aircon drain then remove glove box and you will find a plastic tube going down under the carpet. This is the drain, the foam inside can perish it'll leak. It can also get blocked up and overflow into footwell. The condensed water from aircon unit drains through this to under the car and if it leaks drains into the footwell. If you are running climate on 'econ' mode and not using the aircon it's unlikely to be this but worth an inspection anyway.

There is also a seal under the polen filter that can leak into the front footwell. Plus the good lod blocked plenum drains.

Perhaps VW sould design fish tanks?

    HTH.

    Cheers
It's quite unbelievable how cars in this day in age are still having leaks.
For such a well put together car, it's a shame a two year old designed the plenum drains and the pollen seal.
