    Audi a4 b6 quattro 1.9 tdi 130 bhp

hey fellas a guy told me i probly need my injectors changed what i want to know is is this something i can do myself. i can get the injectors pretty cheap on ebay i think.

PS My local diesel specialist looked at my car and said it would cost 500 euro per injector. (Is that a rediculous estimate or what)

It is quite a big job and they must be very carefully set up. Be extremely wary of fleaBay injectors, the VAG ones are not £450 each for no reason. I have seen people have terrible problems with recon units, even from Bosch. Anyway, why the hell does it need four new injectors? They rarely fail and even then only one at a time.

Honestly dont know if it is the injectors i dont know much about cars but in my opinion i think the engine is not good. Engines a lot noisier than other a4 i have driven and when i removed the oil cap there was a noticable amount of white smoke and there is also oil splatter (is this normal no) seems to be blow back. It does not seem to be burning oil got it serviced in vw garage about 2 or 3 month ago and oil has not dropped. Any ideas mate

The smoke and spatter from the oil cap is normal. If you throw about £1K at it on new injectors you will be gutted at the lack of results. You need to get it to a VAG specialist to have it looked at, it could simply be inaccurate valve timing after a cam belt.

well thats good to hear. I live in ireland how would i go about finding a vag specialist. Im not going back to the vw garage because thay didnt find any problem a few months ago and there clearly was a problem then and still is now. When you say vag specialist do you mean a vw or audi garage? thanks for the help by the way its much appreciated

Yes I mean an independent garage that specialises in working on VW Group vehicles but I don’t know of any in Ireland apart from forum sponsor Walsh Motors in Belfast. First of all you need to get a fault code read done which can be carried out at most well equipped garages but try and get VAG specific or at least “P” codes and get a print out. What is the nature of the problem you are having?

well one of the major problems i was having was black smoke but i blocked off the vac pipe on the egr last night and drove this morning and problem solved little smoke still when accelerating hard but nothing to worry about. Other prob is engine is pretty noisy compared to the other a4 i drove. the engine does seem shaky i think passenger engine mount needs to be changed (would this cause noisey engine)

Yes a little but that sounds more like a failed dual mass flywheel. You need to get a fault code read done and see what comes up, make sure you get a full print out.

well when i got the car i mentioned before i brought to vw garage they said they done a diagnostic. they said a fault on the mass air flow metre showed but they said this was probably due to me changing the air filter myself. (which i told them i had done already when i brought in to them. They also said there was a leak in the tandem pump (oil and diesel) but they did not mention anything bout the flywheel
