Hi all. Apologies for all the questions but trying to get my head around the Audi world!

Going to do a full service next week that will include changing the thermostat due to the car hardly going above 70deg.

Please can I have some guidance on:

    • Oil capacity (some searches reveal it to be 4.2L?)
    • Coolant system capacity (with a 40% coolant to 60% water mix?)

I also need to change a tie rod due to knocking. I've done some research on this and know I need to damage a clip to remove the cover, but needs must!

Oil = 4.2 is with the filter too I believe but will double check later tonight for you.

Coolant = yes a 40/60 will be fine, but use only distilled water NOT tap.

Tie rod = you need to soak the nut and thread in wd40, then undo the nut (17mm I think), most cases the nut will spin with the thread so you will either have a Allen key hole at the end of the thread to hold that is place or you will have to use mole grips to tighten around the rubber boot location on the ball joint of the thread.

Then once the nut is of, dead blow the side of the joint so it pops out or use a ball joint splitter.

Remember.... when replacing the old part with new that you don't move the tracking thread out.

    Also, like night follows day...

Change the coolant temp sensor while it is drained down for the stat, they are an even more common failure than the stat.

Do them both while it is drained down.

Not sure what the height on the strut means for this? I'm changing the track/tie rod and will do the end at the same time, but don't see how any height on the strut can be adjusted.
