    Hi,
    Coul anyone tell me where the coolant temperature sensor is on my 2001 mk4 golf tdi 90 bhp as i need to change it,

    Sorry I can't be specific to your particular engine, but it might be worth trying this thread (more relevant to PD Diesel engines rather than VEP Diesel engines).

    Coolant Temp Sender Sensor

    On the 2.0 Beetle it is simply clipped into one of the black coolant hoses.

    Apparently an easy change. Make sure you buy a new sealing ring if you do it yourself. A smear of petroleum jelly on the O ring should help things go together smoothly !!

    Before you remove the sensor, make sure you release the pressure by removing the coolant bottle lid, when working at audi, the 1st time i did one, the car had been driven, removed the clip, then the sensor..then woosh, hot coolant in my face LoL!! it will be on a coolant hose, but as stated also order the new o ring...

    Oops my bad

    Of course open the expansion tank cap to release any pressure then screw back on to prevent fluid draining out as you remove the old sensor.
