    Hi All

This is my first post and I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me.

I have just purchased my auto 2.0 passat tdi SE (57 plate) which is very difficult to drive, especially around town if i'm in traffic and having to crawl my car hates it, it kangaroos all the time when i try and pull away. The car is very hesitant when i pull away from give ways and traffic lights. And hill starts are a nightmare.

    Any Thoughts?

    Cheers

I have no problems (touch wood) with the DSG and autohold. On my car it is fantastic. Pull up to a junction autohold comes on- slightest touch on accelerator. and off goes the autolhold and car pulls smoothly away.
If yours doesn't do this it should go back to the dealers

You might be giving it too much gas, it only needs the slightest of touches to release the auto hold, and then say 1cm of movement to move along.

If you give it half the pedal, it can be quite snatchy.

I tap the pedal to release (tiny tiny tap) then a little squeeze on the gas to move off.

If i give it quite a bit with the auto hold on from a stand still it jumps forward about a second ish after.

As said above it does take a bit of getting used to but once you have sussed it it is great.

    Hi All

My passat has just been linked up to VW Germany Via live computer and they have said that the problem is the "mechnatronic ecu" which is faulty and needes replacing, which is a 6 hour job luckily under warranty!!

Mine has been doing the same thing for a few months now - it's a 170 SEL estate with sport pack, dsg, 07 reg, now done 40k miles. I've had it from new. It's been back regularly (4 times now ) to my supplying vw dealer with the same problem. They've tried software upgrades, resetting software, changing the gearbox oil and it's as bad as ever. Last month the juddering was so bad my wife nearly rammed the back of a bus in traffic ! I complained further up the food chain in the dealership & they've had my car now for 4 weeks. I made them test drive it with me in the passenger seat to prove I didn't have a nervous twitch !
It's nothing to do with Auto hold - I rarely use mine.
In the meantime the dealer has given me an 08 reg 140 sport estate with dsg to use and it's much smoother in the pick up but the 140 engine is v rough compared to the 170 and gives worse fuel consumption.
The dealer is waiting for a replacement control unit for my dsg, if that doesn't work they've agreed to fit a new gearbox which would be another 3 week wait.
It's a real shame as the dsg is the best feature most of the time - it's just when it's in traffic & hot that I feel like getting out & walking !

    Simon
