yes it is, but the 2.0 doesn't seem to have a swirl flap repair kit like the 3.0 does!

You will have to replace the intake complete, £400 from TPS on a good day.

Try taking it off and giving a good clean this will take you around 3 hrs to do 1 hr removal, 1 hr clean and the 1 hr refitting.

if you don't have the instructions then pm me you email and i will send to you.

After the cleaning process this may not fix it.

What i did was buy a new intake manifold, then replace it this took 2 hrs work. I then cleaned up the old one at my leisure, this way the car was still on the road.

Mine flagged at around 40,000 miles, the new one has been on the car since then and has not done a thing and i'm at 103,000 now mostly Motorway miles.

Short trips most likely make this happen more often.

Thanks DAN for the instructions on the intake clean.
Has worked so far for 5days - no engine light.
cleaned out lots of carbon and swirl flaps were dirty.
new gaskets installed, egr cleaned too.
much better response on the car.
    cheers bud/

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this is the exact problem our 140 A3 currently has. Any idea if the intake manifold flap motor is available separately?

I think that you can get the motors seperately but this will only fix half of the problem.

What engine code do you have?

As there are different types of flaps/motors i.e. a flap rail in the intake with muliple flaps or a single flap/motor part.

Whats most likely happened is that you have had a build up of carbon and this has prevented the flaps from opening or closing, then the motor will struggle and possibly strip the plastic cogs in the motor.

If caught early enough then the clean maybe good enough.
