    Hi guys,
    just bought a bora today (51 plate) 1.9 tdi 130 sport and after driving for a few hours i've noticed the temp guage has hardly moved from cold (infact i dont think it moves from rest position 50 oC)

    I've yet to buy a workshop manual so could anyone tell me the location of the sensor? I'm hoping its something silly like a loose connector, or a new sensor required.

    All in all im quite impressed by the acceleration of this beast.

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

    Hi Mr. T,

    Congratulations on your purchase. The 130 TDI ASZ is a great engine, and with regular (correct VW 505.01/507) oil and cambelt changes should serve you well.

    IMHO the Bora 130 also has better handling than the Golf 130, possibly due to the weight distribution and the thicker front ARB ?

    The following threads may be useful (and are relevant for the Bora 130);

    Coolant temp guage
    Coolant Temp Sender Sensor

    Thanks, i'm very impressed with it so far. I also need to lighten my right foot I didn't think a diesel would be so fast or responsive.

    lol . Now go and get it remapped . Youl then think that you car was slow

    With regard to the issue you are having I would bet that the temp sensor needs to be replaced. Its a common fault on the mk 4 platform

    I think you are right about the sensor. I've noticed the needle does actually move about half it's width.

    I'll look into the price of a remap. Are those chip express tuning boxes any good? Claim to take my 130 upto 161-184 bhp

    A good remap would see 170gbp plus 380-400 nm of torque and be completly relaible on standard 130 components. My car has 142k miles now . Got it mapped at 110. No issues apart from speeding fine.

    I would not recommend tuning boxes, have heard too many horror stories, get a proper remap from a reputable company, its too good a car to risk a bogey tuning box on.

    Thanks for the info. I know a local diesel specialist who can remap most diesels. I'll pop and see him for prices.
