Download one instead. It wont make huge changes so dont expect a miracle. Just a few road updates will be about it. It wont change how the system works, displays and calculates routes etc etc.

Downloading an update sounds a great idea but please, how I do this?
Is there an Audi or the mapping software site that I go to?

There is no where official to download one from. Discussion of such things is frowned upon here for some reason! Get onto Google and have a good search. They are out there as I get mine from the internet! It still aint gonna fix your dodgy laser mechanisim though!!
My sat nav + is cd rom not dvd did they changed the system as early as 2005?
Depends what model car your referring to, but yes it changed in 2005 for the A4.Quote:

Thanks to all the responses to this problem.
I have to agree it is the laser problem - I have contacted Rabbit and he can supply the new laser unit for 120 Euro.
I then have to work out how to fit it although he has got some instructions online which look pretty good if a bit technical.
Its probably worth trying to fix it when I get a spare bit of time tho, otherwise it will annoy me that its all fitted in the car but does not work fully.
