But they are LED...
That's good to know that they will still work as fogs, i will just stop being lazy and turn the main beam on manually instead of keeping it on auto all the time. If there are any LED's that are bright enough to still be useful as fogs that would be my preferred option, but as everyone says they are not powerful enough I think my best bet is some whiter H7's. I think I might do a test with my bike lights the next time it's foggy and see how visible they are through the fog. They do 1000 lumen single LED bike lights, I'm sure someone does them in H7 fitment.
Where is the page to find someone with VCDS? Is it a wiki page?

Main dealers won't do it as its not official.
Your local VAG specialist will do it no problem though.
Just been in to my local specialist and they apparently have all the gear for VAG cars, so booked it in next Friday. She said they charge £20-45, but won't charge if they can't do it. Have asked them to enable the battery, oil meter and hidden menu too, anything else you guys think is worth adding while its in there. might as well get my money's worth lol.
Also just had a thought, does anyone know of any H7 LED bulbs with a built in reflector? maybe then with a reflecter designed to work with an LED it would throw out enough light to still work as a fog light? I guess the hole in the lens is only big enough to fit a halogen bulb through though?
