Just spec'd one as best i can to my Mk6 spec and its come out £2.5k more than the RRP of 3 years ago. I thought £19k was a lot then, £21.5k is silly.
The GT version seems much better value for money at £23k.
The dash inserts are black (same as the Mk.6) and the spec includes pretty much everything except metallic paint.
It's massively better value than the equivalent A3, which is now absurdly over-priced for the same spec.

That's nonsense, why are people incapable of actually reading spec lists properly?
A) There is less between the prices than there was before
B) The A3 does carry some additional equipment which the Golf lacks, e.g all models have Nav prep (just an SD card required to enable) and Sport upwards has dual-zone climate and a colour screen DIS.
For me I specced up a Golf GT TDI 150 (3dr) with colour screen MFD and climate added on, came to £23,345. An A3 2.0 TDI Sport with Comfort pack (to match the Golfs standard cruise, park assist and auto lights/ wipers) came to £23,335. Could even argue to get it in White you need to spend another £200 on the Golf, whereas in the A3 its a free colour.
Re: UK MK7 brochure is now available
The Golf has the clever radar-guided cruise control, not the old-school fixed speed version (extra £350) and has pre-crash (£200) and hill-hold (£90).
Edit: Going through the 2 brochures, the A3 is also lacking DAB radio, folding mirrors, fancy interior lighting, tinted windows, load-through the rear seat, and tyre pressure warning. The Sport model also has only normal cloth seats, not the cloth/alcantara like in the Golf GT.
Comparing an A3 S-Line TDI 150PS Sportback to a 5-dr Golf GT TDI 150PS, the Golf comes in at £23,465 (no options). The A3, with all the extras you get for 'free' in the Golf, costs £28,135. The similar A3 (in Sport spec) costs £26,980.
Either way, the Golf is a lot cheaper. But so it should be!

In addition, the Golf gets front and rear parking sensors as standard, as well as SD card sat nav (not just prep).
And in the A3, you have to put up with the ridiculous twisty knob MMI to adjust anything !
Hasn't Audi noticed the touch screen tablet revolution in computers ? The Golf interface is far more intuitive.
Re: UK MK7 brochure is now available
Far prefer the Audi personally, but each to there own. Still think the colour screen DIS and climate control should be factored in to any comparions, I would not be without those but I can live without a lot of the extra bits the Golf might have.

Anyone know what Limestone Grey meatllic is like, is there another VW made in that colour? Looks slightly darker than Urano Grey
