I can smell petrol!

Hello,

I have a P plate 1.8SE and when i accelerate hard i can smell what i think is petrol. The exhaust is blowing so i know that needs looking at, could this be the cause of the smell?....The car seems to be using alot of fuel.

Are there any simple checks i can carry out to find out whats happening, where the smell is coming from and why the consumption is so high? :confused:

Could be if the car is over fueling (especially if you hoof it a bit) then you will smell it more with the hole being in the exhaust.

I would get that replaced/repaired then reassess it.
