What you have to do, is open the passenger door. That gives you access to a removable panel, that is located on, what is effectively the end of the dashboard. It is similar to the panel that has to be removed at the opposite end of the dashboard, that gives access to the fuses on an A4.
The panel just prises off and pushes back on.
All should then be revealed. If as mine, there is a little push me, pull you type of device, that dampers the glove box when opened and also makes a connection to turn the glovebox light on. The hinge/elbow type joint on this configeration, is held together with a plastic pin, that through use, just wears out and falls out.
I have replaced this pin, with a reasonably loose fitting cable tie and that has cured the problem. If it is the same as mine, just make sure that if you do use a cable tie, do not make too tight or too loose. You should get the `Jist`
