I am trying to log some data with my genuine vag com cable specificaly the measuring blocks 115 which should give me asked boost versus actual. WHen i do a scan or try this i get the message "redir fail" under the labels and it doesnt seem to have the measuring blocks i need.

I am a novice with Vag com so was wondering if anyone had created a labels file for this or could offer any help? It seems others are manging to log this on the cupra and golf forums?

Car is a B7 A4 2.0TDI Quattro.

What version of VAG-COM? Did you try one of the Beta versions? Could be we don't have the details on the TDI engine in your car - or it has been added just recently in one of the Beta releases.

Please post an autoscan from both cars.

The TDIs have been on our TODO list for quite some time now and I hope to get to that before the next update/release. Can't promise a time frame though, sorry.

About the TT, Bruce has already asked for the scan - that should clarify where we are on that as well.

i suppose the main thing is that i want to check boost, requested via actual but cant find the measuring blocks? it should be 115 but this doesnt show correctly. it shows lateral acc and torque only?

For the time being you can use this generic list off our website for the TT 1.8T...

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/m_blocks/

...and on the TDI you should find your boost values in MVB 010/011:

MVB 010: Charge Pressure Control
MVB 010.1: Mass Air Flow (actual)
MVB 010.2: Atmospheric Pressure
MVB 010.3: Boost Pressure (actual)
MVB 010.4: Accel. Pedal Pos. Sensor 1 (G79)

MVB 010: Charge Pressure Control
MVB 010.1: Engine Speed (G28)
MVB 010.2: Boost Pressure (specified)
MVB 010.3: Boost Pressure (actual)
MVB 010.4: Charge Pressure Control Duty Cycle

brilliant thanks so much for the help :)

looks like the boost is ok but the car is hesitant, idles badly and drives pretty poorly. I'm thinking it could be a vacuum leak or the egr system. Can you give me any idea how to run the egr test for my car (A4 2.0TDI 170)

Adamsk,

Did you ever get to the bottom of the issues with your A4 TDI?

I have the same fault code logging on mine, occasionally triggering limp mode.

Interestingly my freeze frame RPM and other parameters are very very similar to the VAG log you posted.

Here's mine:
000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation: Control Range Not Reached
P0299 - 006 - Short to Plus - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
RPM: 2144 /min
Torque: 280.0 Nm
Speed: 116.0 km/h
70.59 %
Voltage: 13.90 V
Pressure: 2236.5 mbar
Pressure: 1789.2 mbar

Car is generally hesitant, with noticable delay getting back on the power when accelerating through the gears.

Any info appreciated.

Grimsa.

i have the exact same fault as you in my audi 2.0 tdi 170 quattro. did you get to the bottom of the fault?? i cant hear the turbo but at the same time it seems to be electrical as when she is restarted runs fine for another while.
the other thing i have noticed is the mpg is around 30 :-(
dont have the car long but thats seems low to me

pd 170 check the vacuum unit on the inlet manifold it sticks (preventing maximum air induction and depleted vacuum to the actuator) also the vacuum pipes to the actuator collapse under boost near n75

use a mitivac tester over vcds or in conjunction to determine if these suggestions are the cause

thanks for the info only got to look today. the flap on the intake manifold was clean and free as for the pipes going to the actuator seems to be ok.
thinking of changing the boost pressure sensor as the car seems diff everytime i start it sometimes dead other times quick.
here is hoping it will solve the problem
