Hi i have recently purchased an A8 with fingerprint start, the car dosnt start with my finger so does anyone here know how i can program it so it does?

The fingerprint does not prevent starting as its used for user function memory. I would suggest you have a problem with the start switch


New user matching is implemented by way of
the "CAR" menu in the multimedia interface
(MMI) and can be performed for four users.
A maximum of 5 fingers can be matched per
user.
The MMI provides user prompting for the
matching process to ensure optimum image
quality.
Finger matching is performed by placing it on
the sensor three times in succession with
moderate pressure (< 12 N). The first time, the
finger should be placed in normal centre
position, then approx. 2 mm to the left and
finally 2 mm to the right.
Further prints may be necessary depending
on image quality. If this is the case, the user
will be informed by way of an appropriate
prompt in the MMI.
Three finger images must be read in and
stored before a person can be identified.
At least one finger must be matched.
To rule out identification problems, it is
however appropriate to match two or several
fingers.

you have two options
owners handbook paper back
owners handbook cd rom load into the 6 disc changer and select on the mmi

the cd can be bought on ebay cant it? i just printed off what you told me about the programming so will probably be in my garage till late tonight! :) also while im speaking to an expert my doors dont open when i get to the car in the morning eben though it has the keyless entry.....any ideas?
