Passat 1.9 TDI 2001 Estate - front Wheel Hub Nuts - lh or rh thread? Having discovered split CV boots, I'm about to jack car up to get shaft off. I need to loosen the hub nuts first and they are very tight - can I assume they are normal right hand threads on each side and use superhuman brute strength in a normal anti-clockwise direction? They feel like they will break - does this happen sometimes?

normal thread just tight
if your changing the cv boots pull back the abs sensors before removing the cv joint as you can damage them on refitting then push back into posistion afterwards

Thanks for your quick reply towcestervag - and for the warning about the speed sensors.
Now where did I put that scaffolding bar?

Both the nuts came slack OK, but were worryingly tight. The problem now is moving the speed sensors - I've asked about that in a new thread.
