I have had a good look on this forum and can't seem to find a answer to the question of how do you change the main bulbs on a B7 and how hard is it. Some people say you need to remove the bumper but others say that it is even easier than replacing them on a B6 (4 Hex screws and you can take the unit out completely. I would appreciate any advice as my driver's side bulb went this morning. I am going to replace both of them with the recommended Philips X-treme Power H7 bulbs.

Well if it is even easier than the B6,you could be bang on ,just 3/4 torx and unit out ...5 minutes on my B6

I just changed mine last week, took 15mins max,
its all in the owners manual.the most work you do
is remove the clip on covers on the back of the
headlights........no tools needed.

oh and I was fitting the philips x-treme bulbs too ;)

Same as above just a bit of a squeeze and a few little cuts after but well worth it, philips extreme = great bulbs but while your there get rid of the yellow sidelight bulbs and get some white/blue ones, look much better :beerchug:

My tip would be to make a note of the orientation of the connector that the bulb is connected to before taking them out.

Do you have any recommendations for which sidelight bulbs to get as this seems like a good idea.

I used these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIAA-H-284-PLATINUM-WHITE-5W-SIDELIGHT-BULBS-FOR-CARS_W0QQitemZ120497946286QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca rsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1c0e3cbeae
they have lasted a long time and are now in my second car, have read to much about the cheaper ones flaking and LED's being a proplem making the car think a bulbs blown :beerchug:

OK, side lights...

LED CANBUS 501 (error free)

The cheapest I have found and no size issue of being slightly bigger, I have HIDs so not that bothered about lots of LEDs like others.
