I have a Audi TT quattro coupe (180) 2001. The driver's side window does not drop when you open the door. The near side door works ok. Any ideas?

Odds are it the microswitch built into the door lock.
I'm sure there's a "how to" on the TT forum.....
I'll go look and post a link

Try the window reset:

Turn the ignition on - don't start the engine
windows down and then straight back up
when the windows are up release the switch momentarily
pull the switches back up and hold for 3 to 5 seconds
let the switches go
ignition off

If this won't help, you probably have broken microswitch in door lock mechanism. Solution is to buy a new mechanism from Audi, it cost £102.

Anyway did you buy door lock mechanism (for £102) or just microswitch?

2 questions, where did you source switch from?
was it a straight swap,or did you have to do a little engineering?
thanks

Go with the old switch to Maplins, they have a good variety. Get the best match.

Your right a bit of engineering is required. I secured a similar switch with tapered screws. Had to drill a couple of small holes first. Alignment is key for it to work properly. It took me a couple of goes to get it right.

Good luck! Its better than paying £100

Rgds!
